Volunteer Opportunities

Those interested in Volunteering for these and other activities should email with your area of interest and/or expertise.

Garden volunteers help maintain The President Woodrow Wilson House’s period garden and houseplants. Garden Volunteer commitment may be seasonal and based on garden needs.

Office/Behind the Scenes
Office volunteers help promote the Museum and Museum programs as well as assist behind-the-scenes with Museum operations in the administrative or development office. Some examples include social media posting, invitation mailings, and maintaining databases just to name a few.  Behind-the-scenes Volunteer commitment may be project-based or regularly scheduled weekday shifts.

Visitor Service/Gift Shop
Visitor Services is ideal for someone who enjoys history and working with the public, but may not have the time to complete docent training to lead tours. Volunteers greet visitors, answer questions about the neighborhood and Wilson House, assist with starting visitors on guided tours, collect admission fees and sells gift shop items.  Gift Shop Volunteers may additionally help with restocking and merchandising the Gift Shop, creating signage and displays.  

Special Events and Programs
Special Event Volunteers assist the regular staff at public programs such as Museum Walk Weekend or at evening events such as receptions and weddings.  Tasks may include but are not limited to engaging visitors with stories and information about the museum, providing on-site registration and check-in, Holiday decorating, monitoring collection security, set-up and clean-up of programs.
