April 11 - Easter Eggs-travaganza
Saturday, April 11, 2009
The First Annual Easter Egg Roll will relocate a tradition to the garden at Woodrow Wilson House! Join Co-chairs Jane Sloat Ritchie, a member of the Woodrow Wilson House Honorary Board, and her daughter Jill DeGraff Thorpe to enjoy eggs-citing fun for all ages and generations that helps the museum, too!

In her memoirs, First Lady Edith Bolling Wilson recalled that President Wilson would join her on the South Portico of the White House where they “stood for many minutes watching the kaleidoscope of colour” as Easter eggs were rolled on the lawn. Of course, it was President Hayes and his wife, Lucy, who officially opened the White House grounds in 1878 to children for egg rolling that continues today on Easter Monday.

On Saturday, April 11th, from 1 – 3 p.m., for eggs-actly $25 for adult and $10 for child (under two years of age free), enjoy this egg-rolling eggs-travaganza!

Friends and families will get a new tradition underway with an afternoon of Easter egg rolling, a treasure hunt, games and hand-craft activities, entertainment, treats and the Easter Bunny!

The treasure hunt was inspired by another kaleidoscope of color – 101 Wonders of Woodrow Wilson House: Hidden Treasures from the Presidential Collection, the new exhibition of international gifts of goodwill presented to President Wilson from leaders around the world.

Easter bonnets are welcome! We are eggs-pecting you!

Day of event tickets may be available at the door. Please email Claudia Bismark here.
