Woodrow Wilson House Calendar

Calendar

Christmas on S Street
Friday, December 25, 2009
The Woodrow Wilson House, Washington’s only presidential museum will be decorated for the holiday season in the 1920s style of President and Mrs. Wilson from December 1st through January 4, 2010.

Visitors will be greeted by a “Della Robbia” style wreath on the front door in the fashion that welcomed the many guests who arrived in the 1920s to celebrate the holidays and the President’s birthday on December 28th. A splendid twelve-foot tree, heavily adorned with electric lights, will fill the solarium and radiate through the Palladian window at the top of the foyer stairs. Wilson was one of the first “modern” presidents, and his was very much a modern home’s celebration - no burning Yule logs or candlelight, but electric lights on the tree and carols on the “Victrola.”
