In Memory - RICHARD BOLLING FULLER
3/17/2008
On February 12, 2008, we were saddened to learn of the death Richard Bolling Fuller, our close friend and Wilson House Advisory Board member. Over the years many came to know Richard, not only as Edith Bolling Wilson’s great-nephew but as a true friend and generous supporter of the museum. His stories and memories of “Aunt Edith” strengthened her role as “keeper of the flame” as we preserve this important historic site. Richard grew up in Washington and always helped us better understand the importance of “story” in history. Sadly with his passing goes yet another great story-teller and legacy keeper.

Richard was born on December 15, 1945 in Sanford, Florida. The son of the late Cary C. Fuller and Barbara Bolling Fuller, Richard was a graduate of Duke University. He served in the United States Air Force for four years in Cambodia and Viet Nam. After his military service he worked as a professional staff member for Congressman Bob Edgar of Pennsylvania and in recent years was National Legislative Director for the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

He is survived by his brother Cary Clark Fuller of Port Chester, New York and seven cousins, including Sterling R. Bolling, Jr., formerly of Washington and also a member of the Wilson House Advisory Board.

Services will be held on Monday, March 17, at Ft. Myer Chapel, at 3 p.m. and friends and colleagues are invited. Please assemble in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Fuller-Fowler Fund for Young Artists at the Washington Cathedral Choral Society, a fund that Richard and his brother Cary set up to honor their mother Barbara Fuller and their Aunt Clara Fowler, or the Richard Bolling Memorial Fund at Woodrow Wilson House to continue exhibition and audience outreach which Richard generously supported. Contributions to Woodrow Wilson House may be made by clicking here.
